Meet The New Ranger

New Beginnings

Restoration of the surviving J-Class yachts began in 1974, and in 2000, the owners came together to create the J Class Association. This organization created rules for the use of original plans to create Replica Rebuilds and ushered in new interest for this iconic class.

The Rebirth of a Classic

In 2002, construction began on Ranger, a modern replica of the 1937 America’s Cup winner.

The modern J-Class Yacht is significantly different to versions of the 1930s. Nowadays, it must conform to stringent safety regulations, and it has to offer the ability to cross oceans with accommodation and all support services associated with a superyacht. All this is not easily packed into a long thin racing hull, but even with these changes, the heart of Ranger remains the same.

Since its completion in 2003, Ranger has raced in various regattas around the world, bringing with it the impressive spectacle of the J Class.
